Hi. Oh, not to worry. When I wrote that, Rick was still in full swing and his were the most over the top statements of all and the post was more inspired by the cartoon than the event and his opponents. But you are quite right, his entire party, particularly the Tea Bag part, want very much to create what I, and others, call the Christian Taliban here. They don't seem to understand that freedom "of" religion is also freedom "from" religion. Ours is a big tent and all people need be able to fit under it, religious (though I have here and elsewhere called religion the greatest evil ever perpetrated upon humanity by men - for their own purposes, and meant it), non-religious, atheist, pagan, witches, people who believe the moon is made of green cheese, everyone. The Republican party seems intent on fitting only those who pass their litmus test for purity under our tent. And I think that wrong. So, Rick has called it quits, I really wish he hadn't, I wanted his views front and center right through their convention, but they will still have Mitt's which are nearly as strong, though he will now try to mitigate the damage he's done with women, I trust them to see through that, mostly. And he will be running on the Ryan budgetary proposal which is the most mean-spirited document to come out of Washington since, well, since last years version, but before that a very long time. So don't worry about being confused, we are a hodge podge nation and we allow all viewpoints air time, or web time, but that certainly does not mean we take them all seriously or that all of them have any chance of becoming law. Amending our national constitution is quite a long and difficult process so it isn't done a lot. Currently it is much easier to amend state constitutions so that is where the Super PAC's are concentrating their time and money handing out prefab amendments to Tea Party Republicans who swept into power two years ago and who I think are going to be swept right back out this fall. Oh, and nice to meet you. :^) gene

I'm confused - but that may be expected from a non-American.
From what I've seen and heard, it's not just Santorum who is trying to combine church and state. Maybe the others are a bit more subtle about it. (Or not.)

But Santorum ended his campaign today, so it sounds like your constitution is safe for a while longer

Thank you, what a sweet treat to read. I still think of her often and mourn not only her leaving but the loss of her work as a tool for the masses to better understand ourselves and so each other. I hope her work continues as she had so desired and that she lives on through that application of her incredible gift. I am glad to have been one of those fortunate enough to have had my path cross with hers, she'll not be forgotten, not for her work nor for her friendship and person. :^) gene
